BCI-L20C liquid
BOILER CORROSION INHIBITOR/OXYGEN SCAVENGER – ALKALINE SULPHITE BASE
BCI-L20-C is a unique and specialized alkaline sulphite based oxygen scavenger for use in steam generating systems, It is available in a liquid and in a solid form (BCI-S100-C) and contains an internal indicator and hardness management compound in its neat form to confirm that the product is suitably alkaline and will not deplete valuable hydroxyl alkalinity needed to be maintained in low and medium pressure steam generation systems for internal silica control.

Appearance: Deep Crimson Liquid
Total Activity: 20-25%
pH neat soln. at 25°C: 10.0 -12.0
Specific Gravity at 25°C: 1.18 – 1.24
BCI-L20-C is nominally controlled at between 15-30mg/l in the boiler as the sodium sulphite compound in the boiler circuit water. These dosages should be altered dependent upon dissolved oxygen content in the feed water.
mg/l BCI-L20-C to boiler feed water = 5 x [ (Oxygen in Feed Water x 8) + (Residual
Required/Effective Cycles of Concentration.)]
There is a specific test method for the determination of the residual BCI-L20-C. This is a titrimetric method and is immediately available.
BCI-L20-C is also available as a spray dried powder – BCI-S100-C and can be diluted at 20% m/m. The dosages and residuals can be controlled exactly as described above.
BCI-L20-C can be stored for up to 24 months from the date of manufacture, in its original, sealed packaging, at room temperature in a dry area. Bags of BCI-S100-C must be kept undercover and out of direct sunlight. This product can be safely stored in plastic type holding tanks designed to manage the specific gravity listed. BCI-L20-C must be protected from freezing and excessive aeration. Protective clothing such as gloves and goggles should be worn when handling BCI-L20-C.
