Boiler Water Treatment: Specialised Polymer Programmes
Effective boiler water treatment protects your boiler from scale, deposits and corrosion, and it can also reduce your fuel and water costs. Blue Reef Water Solutions offers specialised polymer boiler water treatment programmes that keep hardness in solution rather than turning it into sludge. The results are cleaner heat transfer surfaces, less blowdown and more efficient steam generation.
The problem with traditional phosphate treatment
Conventional phosphate programmes control deposits through precipitation. Phosphate is added to the boiler water, and calcium and magnesium precipitate out of solution. These solids stay suspended as sludge and have to be removed through blowdown.
Every blowdown sends hot, treated water down the drain. That water has to be replaced with cold make-up water, which then has to be heated. More blowdown means higher energy, fuel and water usage.
The Blue Reef polymer approach
Our polymer technology keeps potential deposits in solution and dispersed, so they don’t precipitate. Because less sludge forms, you need less blowdown and more hot water stays in the system.
The main benefits are:
- Less blowdown. You lose less hot boiler water and use less energy to reheat make-up water.
- Water savings. Overall water consumption and operating costs come down.
- Enhanced protection. The programme supports scale control and corrosion protection.
- Optimised performance. Stable, sub-stoichiometric technology gives precise control.
