What is our GROW initiative for water recycling?

Climate change, population expansion, and pollution are all contributing to an increase in the scarcity of water. This is a major issue in South Africa, especially in drought-prone areas, but nearly every major city has had its share of water shortages in the last decade. As a result, there is a growing demand for sustainable water management measures, such as water recycling and reuse.

Blue Reef Water Solutions is a leading South African water treatment company that offers speciality chemicals for a range of industries. We are committed to promoting sustainable water solutions through our GROW initiative – a comprehensive approach to water management.

This campaign focuses on raising awareness and educating people about sustainable water practices. We can stimulate behaviour change and inspire action by highlighting these issues to our clients and the general public.

What does GROW entail?

GROW is an acronym that creates a framework for water sustainability practices:

  • Generating awareness – We believe that education and awareness are essential for supporting sustainable water practices. We want to create conversations around water recycling and water savings practices within businesses and households across South Africa.
  • Recycling water – This is an important step towards reducing water usage and minimising our overall environmental impact. Our solutions allow organisations to recycle wastewater for various applications, including cooling, irrigation, and cleaning. We also aim to revisit old water systems and help clients improve them.
  • Organising water streams – Separating water streams into distinct systems allows companies to optimise water usage and treatment efficiency. This strategy reduces the impact of wastewater outflow and helps set up sustainable systems to reuse grey or black water, that would otherwise go to waste.
  • Water intervention – In areas with severe water scarcity, we perform targeted interventions to conserve water and improve its quality. This resource will always be the original source of life, so we need to take action through water purification and treatment. These interventions could include rainwater harvesting, water efficiency audits, and improved water treatment technologies.

Why water separation matters

It’s vital to keep clean water clean while treating wastewater separately. Mixing clean and dirty water can reduce the quality of both. Segregating water streams allows us to preserve clean water sources and keep this precious resource free from contamination and pollutants.

Blue Reef aims to reduce water use by recycling and reusing wastewater in non-potable applications. We can help clients with customised treatment solutions to meet the unique needs of each water stream. By separating process and wastewater streams into different zones, we can separate “good” water from “bad” water and treat each stream based on its specific requirements.

Blue Reef is committed to providing innovative and sustainable water treatment chemicals and outsourced engineering solutions. Our team conducts considerable research and development to create innovative technologies that address the concerns of water scarcity and pollution.

Partnering with Blue Reef allows you to contribute to a more sustainable future. Together, we can address water concerns and ensure a sustainable water supply for future generations through the GROW initiative.
